Aaliyah Haughton was famous in 1994 when she released her first album Age Ain't nothing but a number. The album was Gold when she was 15 years old. The collaboration that influential to R. Kelly's music, put her in the limelight. In 1996, she debuted her sophomore album One In A Million with Jermaine dupri and Timbaland. The album contained the number one hit track If Your Girl only knew. Aaliyah gained international fame for her R&B singing through this album. In 2000, she co-starred with the legendary martial artist Jet Li as Jet Li in Romeo Must Die. Joel Silver, film producer and director of the movie Romeo Must Die spotted her at an award ceremony. In 2002 she had the opportunity to play the horror film Queen of the Damned which was inspired by the Anne Rice novel. The Matrix Sequels saw her playing Zee and appeared as a character in The Matrix Reloaded (2003) and The Matrix Revolutions that same year. She is the first generation Indian-American born and raised in Connecticut. The stage name Mann is derived from her marriage name Mankad. Aarti has both Aarti Majumdar as well as Aarti Munn as professional names. Although she began with small TV and movie roles, her acting started to gain momentum around the turn of the century. Other notable work includes Grey's Anatomy, Suits and Leverage. The actress has also been featured in major commercials for brands like Volvo which is an international automobile producer. She lives in Los Angeles where she continues to perform as an actress.
